OVERVIEW
Gain the Level 3 youth mentoring qualification and essential knowledge in youth mentoring that will lead to a job working with children and young people.
Volunteer at The Mentoring Lab Community CIC to gain:
- On-the-job youth mentoring experience
- Level 3 in youth mentoring qualification

- Job Application Support
- Reference on Completion
Designed to support adults aged 18 and over in entering a career as a youth mentor, working in schools, colleges, community organisations, children’s homes, or within the local authorities.
Who is this training for?
The training is suitable for adults aged over 18 years old wanting a career as a youth mentor.
Duration of training
Depending on your preferred pace and financial situation, you may choose to complete the training between 3 – 6 months.
Cost of training
The training programme covers the cost of the qualifications and training and all associated administration fees.
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
3 MONTH PROGRAMME
Required days per Week: 4
Month 1:
- Programme Induction
- Introduction to Youth Mentoring Training
- Mentoring Tools and Techniques
- Meet Your Mentees (2-4 mentees)
Month 2:
- Level 3 Certificate in Mentoring from Open Awards
- Plan and conduct weekly 1:1 youth mentoring sessions
- Plan and conduct two group youth mentoring sessions
- Mentoring Supervision
Month 3:
- Coordinating Projects CPD Training
- Level 3 Certificate in Mentoring from Open Awards
- Youth Mentoring Network visits
- Job searching, mock interviews
- Programme Reflection and Job references
6 MONTH PROGRAMME
Required Days per Week: 2
Month 1-2:
- Programme Induction
- Introduction to Youth Mentoring Training
- Mentoring Tools and Techniques
- Meet Your Mentees (2-4 mentees)
Month 3-4:
- Level 3 Certificate in Mentoring from Open Awards
- Plan and conduct weekly 1:1 youth mentoring sessions
- Plan and conduct two group youth mentoring sessions
- Mentoring Supervision
Month 5-6:
- Coordinating Projects CPD Training
- Level 3 Certificate in Mentoring from Open Awards
